    Beauty fans love beauty samples — whether they are travel-size minis, single-use packettes, or deluxe samplers. No matter what size or type, they make it easy to ‘try before you buy,’ in the comfort of your home.

    Beauty fans also love monthly subscription boxes filled with samples — and now Sephora offers a new type of beauty box, Play! Smarts by Sephora. (It is featured on the cover of Beauty Packaging’s September issue.)

    Sephora launched the new concept in June. Each single-purchase ‘Play Smarts’ box focuses on one theme, and each is a limited edition. The box contains six deluxe samples and informational cards about the products. Buyers also get to stream an online class, with the option to watch it live at a specific time and ask the expert presenter questions.

    The latest ‘Play Smarts’ boxes are called ‘Skincare by Age.’ There are 30s, 40s, and 50s boxes, and each comes with the same cute round mint green makeup case, shown above. The box says it will help you “master a skincare routine specific to your stage in life.”
