The acronym that stands for What you see is what you get came to mind repeatedly during my compilation of this issue—the largest in our 18-plus year history. Not as computer jargon, but as a message of general transparency.
First of all, this is our annual—and immensely popular—Corporate Profiles issue, in which our readers, at a glance, can get an in-depth look at a company’s corporate capabilities. In this case, 66 companies!
In addition to a company’s placement of an advertisement, which may highlight a particular product line or new innovation, the facing page provides a closer look at features such as headquarters size and location, history and expertise, key personnel, major markets and products and specialized services. Thus, packaging teams have revealing details, clearly stated, to aid them in contacting a supplier.
The idea of transparency also emerged as a trend, both in a special column on cosmetics packaging written by packaging designer Marc Rosen, and in this month’s feature article on Lip Makeup.
Just as Marc found that there’s been a trend toward clear glass in cosmetics and fragrance packaging, I noticed the increased popularity of see-through containers in the lip makeup category.
Both the open book summaries presented in the Corporate Profiles and the appeal of clear packaging in cosmetics aisles make it easy for buyers to make informed decisions, because what they see is a good indicator of what they’ll get.
Sometimes what you get is even better than what you see.
This can be true with Airless Packaging. Today’s skin care bottles, jars and tubes are not only attractive on the outside, but thanks to advanced technology, consumers can be assured that the invisible features keep formulations safe—and good to the last drop.
And when it comes to Contract Manufacturing and Turnkey Services , brands are viewing this window of opportunity as a way to seamlessly produce a new product or line, without the stress of managing a complex project themselves—and they get the behind-the-scenes insider expertise that these manufacturers have developed in a wide range of areas, from ever-evolving regulations to the latest componentry.
We hope you find everything you’re looking for in Beauty Packaging. Please let us know what else you would like to see on our pages.
