Bernard Arnault, LVMH chairman and CEO, ranks at #1 with a net worth of $233 billion. LVHM owns 75 brands, including Parfums Christian Dior, Parfums Givenchy, Guerlain, Benefit Cosmetics, Make Up For Ever, and others in its Perfume & Cosmetics division.
LVMH is the only company in the beauty industry in the top five, with Arnault out-ranking the richest tech billionaires.
Elon Musk ranks at #2 (Tesla, SpaceX, $195B); Jeff Bezos (Amazon, $194B) is #3; Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook, $177B) is #4; and Larry Ellison (Oracle, $141B) is #5.
Bettencourt Myers is L’Oréal founder Eugène Schueller's granddaughter. She has served on L'Oreal's board since 1997 and is chairwoman of the family holding company.
He co-owns Chanel with his brother Gerard Wertheimer, (also #40 on the list) who oversees the watch division. Their grandfather, Pierre Wertheimer, founded Chanel with Gabrielle (Coco) Chanel, the company's namesake.
