According to the findings from Piper Sandler’s 44th semi-annual Taking Stock with Teens Survey, while fragrance is still the smallest portion of the beauty wallet ($66 annual spend), spending on fragrance is on the rise.
The survey reveals that 66% of female teens wear a fragrance every day and 39% of male teens wear a fragrance every day, which is much more than the percentage of teens that wear makeup every day.
Bath & Body Works ranked No. 1 among favorite fragrances for all female teens at 38%. For upper-income teens, Bath & Body Works held 29% mindshare, and for average-income teens, Bath & Body Works held 40% mindshare.
Victoria’s Secret consistently ranked No. 2 among all income categories, while Sol de Janeiro, Ariana Grande, and Chanel consistently ranked in the top 5.
Coty had strong representation in the top 10 fragrances for female teens, with Marc Jacobs coming in at No. 6, Gucci coming in at No. 8, and Burberry coming in at No. 10. Also, Coty’s Philosophy brand made the top 20 at No. 14.
