Designer Georges Marciano has just launched a civil lawsuit for the illegal use of "Guess by Georges Marciano" - and the designer demands production of all counterfeit goods to cease, and be destroyed.
This comes just weeks after the fashion designer filed a first lawsuit in which he accused Guess Inc. of opposing the trademark "Royal Navy by Georges Marciano", a move that effectively prevents him from using the name "Georges Marciano" in his business.
Cosmetics for men and women bearing the trademark "Guess by Georges Marciano" were acquired from an online boutique. They are easily determined to be counterfeit, since the "Guess by Georges Marciano" license agreement was cacelled in 1993. Hundreds of similar items were also found for sale on the Internet.
The designer hopes to shed light on the issue - and make consumers aware that all cosmetics that use "Guess by Georges Marciano" are counterfeit. "I am determined to fight to put an end to the illicit use of my name and recover monies to which I am entitled," Marciano says.
