Brooklyn-based, B Corp haircare company, amika, has partnered with 4ocean to officially join the clean ocean movement as a Certified Cleanup Partner. This partnership will help clean more than 100,000 pounds of plastic from oceans, coastlines and rivers across the globe.
Amika is a recent winner of the Sustainability Excellence Award by CEW and is committed to fully integrating sustainability practices in the entirety of its business. Amika accounts for all emissions, optimizes packaging, responsibly sourced ingredients and plans to reach Net Zero by 2035.
4ocean is an ocean cleanup company dedicated to ending the ocean plastic crisis. Since 2017, the company has removed more than 29 million pounds of plastic waste and other man-made debris from oceans, coastlines and rivers.
Since the 1950s it is estimated that the world has produced 18.3 trillion pounds of plastic; of which 10% has been recycled and 79% accumulates in the environment. According to the World Economic Forum, global plastic production is expected to triple by 2050.
