This year, on April 22, in 190 countries all over the world, a billion people will celebrate Earth Day for the 40th time, participating in activities to make their community and the world more sustainable. Be a part of a Billion Acts of Green by participating in FIT’s 4th Annual Sustainable Business and Design Conference: “Re-designing for a Sustainable Future” held in The John Reeves Great Hall on Earth Day.
Keynote presenters include Susan Szenazy, editor-in-chief of Metropolis Magazine; Tom Bowman, president of Bowman Global Change, social entrepreneur and green business strategist; and Mark Alt, founder of Marc Alt + Partners, a design, research and strategy agency dedicated to sustainability and social innovation.
A panel of FIT representatives will provide a comprehensive update on FIT sustainability initiatives. Multiple break-out sessions will focus on industry-specific topics in fashion, visual merchandising, interior design, packaging design and others. The Great Hall will be transformed into an exhibition space presenting student projects that address a multitude of sustainability applications in business and design.
The event is free and open to all, but attendees are asked to please register at www3.fitnyc.edu/sustainabilityatfit
