Gift-worthy cosmetics and fragrances for Valentine's Day, in packaging with lots of pink, red, hearts and flowers.

Beauty brands are aiming to capture the attention of shoppers this Valentine’s Day with gift-worthy packaging that looks like Cupid designed it. Marketers have good reasons to pay attention - Valentine’s Day ranks as the fourth largest spending holiday. According to the National Retail Federation’s Valentine’s Day Consumer Spending Survey, shoppers in the U.S. are expected to set a record in 2016 for spending an all-time high of $19.7 billion.

One brand, Kiko Milano, has an entire collection that targets teens shopping for friends, called BFF - and it features plenty of red heart-shaped packaging. See these items in the slideshow above.

Hearts & Flowers Adorn Packaging for Cosmetics & Fragrances

Cosmetic and fragrance packaging isn’t going to disappoint shoppers looking for Valentine’s Day gifts, or women shopping for themselves. Bottles and boxes are covered in pink and red hues and decorated with lots of hearts and ribbons. Decorative patterns and colorful illustrations adorn bottles, compacts, palettes and tubes.

Prada’s Candy fragrance gift set and Viktor and Rolf’s Flowerbomb have boxes that look like they should contain confections.

Too Faced already had heart-shaped compacts, which tie in perfectly with the holiday. Tony Moly, known for its kitsch packaging designed to attract attention, has a lip-shaped lip balm called Bbo Bbo.

Nudestix took its existing tins to create a limited edition package for Valentine's Day. It's called The Kiss, and features a painting by Jessica Gorlicky.

There are also rose-scented fragrances, candles, and even heart-shaped sponge applicators. Nail polish brand Duri has a clever customizable red box that allows shoppers to choose four colors to pack inside.

It’s All In The Name

Rather than create fancy packaging specific for V-Day that will seem outdated the day after, some brands have product names that will catch the consumer’s attention in February - and can turn these products into presents.

Lush has its lip scrub called The Kiss; Clinique’s lip set is called “Kiss, Boom, Pop!” and L’Occitane’s Hugs & Kisses Hand & Lip Duo features cute illustrations on the products’ tubes.

Fragrances To Celebrate Love

Just in time for V-Day 2016, Daisy by Marc Jacobs has launched new limited edition scents that include Daisy Blush and Eau So Fresh Blush. The fragrances look gift-worthy, with the brand’s signature cap that resembles a bouquet of flowers.

Derek Lam’s new fragrance collection, 10 Crosby, is available in a set of 10 rollerballs, exclusive to Sephora. The set’s packaging isn’t specific to V-Day, but it launched just in time - and includes one scent called 2 AM Kiss, which is bright red.

Victoria’s Secret Love Me More fragrance was also timed for the holiday launch. The fragrance’s bottle is encased with the retailer’s name spelled out in bright pink oversized letters. It has an extra-long black bulb-shaped actuator and a double heart-shaped charm.
