Bridgepoint Europe VII has successfully finalized the purchase of RoC Skincare from Gryphon Investors. The initial transaction was announced in January. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Dr. Jean-Charles Lissarrague founded RoC in Paris in 1957. It has become one of the largest independent skincare brands. Products are globally available in Europe, China, Australia, Canada and the U.S.
RoC released the first hypoallergenic skincare, the first stabilized Retinol and the first broad-spectrum UV protection products. Most recently RoC introduced its Derm Correxion Franchise and a Barrier Renew collection.
In 2019 Gryphon initially acquired in RoC, since then the company has expanded its product offerings and broadened its footprint internationally and in the U.S.
“RoC is a great example of how Gryphon employs its integrated deal and operations model to build leading companies and we look forward to leveraging this experience as we support more companies in the beauty and personal care space,” said Gryphon Managing Director, Eddie Douglas.
RoC Skincare CEO, Fernando Acosta added, “Working with Gryphon provided our brand with the resources to expand our market presence and drive growth at a significant pace… We are grateful to Gryphon for the resources they have given us over the past five years and believe that they positioned RoC for continued success as we enter our next phase of growth with Bridgepoint.”
M&A advisor Raymond James for Kirkland & Ellis guided RoC in this transaction. CG Sawaya Partners advised Gryphon, as well as originally guiding the sale of RoC from Johnson & Johnson.
RoC is one of Gryphon’s multiple investments in the beauty category. Gryphon also owns Goodier, Milani Cosmetics and Revision Skincare.
