MAC Cosmetics is celebrating 27 years of giving back through its Viva Glam Fund with its new Viva Glam x Keith Haring collection.
The line launched on December 1, which was World Aids Day. The collection includes three lipsticks, in bright pop-art-inspired colors, packaging adorned with Keith Haring's artwork. The limited edition lipstick line includes St. Mark's Yellow, Red Haring, and Canal Blue.
John Demsey, executive group president, The Estée Lauder Companies, stated in a press release:
“For our 27th anniversary, we’re thrilled to honor the late iconic artist Keith Haring and carry forward his mission of using his imagery to drive positive change for those most in need of support. He was a true visionary who used his talent for purpose. While he sadly passed away during the height of the epidemic, we are so proud that his iconic art and philanthropy lives on through VIVA GLaM.”
MAC launched its first Viva Glam lipstick 1994, when HIV/AIDS was the leading cause of death for all Americans ages 25 to 44, Nylon states, so the brand made sure 100% of proceeds of Viva Glam would donated to the fund.
Every year since then, consumers look forward to a new Viva Glam lipstick, and the brand's next collaboration. Since 1994, MAC has raised over half a billion dollars for the Fund.
