Fresh hand-made cosmetics company LUSH Japan Co., Ltd. will put Japan-only New Year lucky bags, "Fresh Wrap," on sale in a limited quantity at all LUSH shops across the country and on its online shopping site on January 1, 2016.
Advance orders for the bags started December 1, and will be accepted at all LUSH shops in Japan and on the company's online shopping site until Dec. 25. The bags will be sold Jan. 1-Jan. 3.
New Year lucky bags are said to bring good luck at the beginning of each year.
Shops originally began to sell lucky bags in the New Year's period to allow customers to share good luck with Daikokuten, known in Japan as the god of luck, since it has been believed that a bag the deity holds contains luck and happiness.
Today, department stores and other shops sell unique lucky bags containing seasonal or valuable goods. The sale of luck bags is a feature of the New Year's period in Japan.
LUSH Japan will offer 2,500 yen and 5,000 yen "FRESH WRAP" lucky bags. These will contain mainly LUSH goods sold exclusively in Japan and those that have not yet been released in the country. Moreover, the lucky bags will be wrapped in specially designed cloth called "KnotWrap."
Customers selected by lottery from among those who place advance orders to be invited for a LUSH factory tour or a visit to LUSH Spa.
Customers who place advance orders for these lucky bags will have a chance to win such privileges as participation in an inspection tour of the LUSH production site or a ticket for LUSH Spa.
