Procter & Gamble Co. is looking to sell several of its beauty brands - and is soliciting bids on its Wella salon brand, its fragrance business, plus a few other cosmetics brands that haven't been named. The potential buyers that have been contacted include Henkel AG, Revlon Inc., Unilever, Kao Corp, and Coty Inc.
The Boston Globe reports: “P&G will likely announce the disposal of a meaningful part of its beauty business over coming months,” Exane analyst Jeff Stent said in an April 8 note to clients. “European listed home- and personal-care companies will very likely be among the acquirers. We would be surprised if Henkel and Unilever do not acquire some assets.”
The brands that are up for sale could mean approximately $19 billion in revenue. P&G is looking to sell them together or individually - but hasn't commented directly yet on the news in any of the recent published reports.
