NPD is reporting strong growth for the skincare market. Both large and small key facial skincare segments experienced strong growth in the 12 months ending November 2014 (Dec’13-Nov’14), despite the fact that the overall market experienced a nearly 1 percent decline in dollar sales.
The chart above shows that skincare masks showed the greatest chnage - growing by 53%.
Karen Grant, BPD Group’s global beauty industry analyst, and member of Beauty Packaging’s Board of Advisors, commented:
"While age defying products continue to be important to facial skincare users, consumers today are also adopting a broader range of multipurpose and specialized skincare offerings, from alphabet creams to acne treatment and masks. Such products are appealing to those seeking instant gratification as well as those looking to complement their existing regimen. These segments of the facial skincare industry are succeeding by being innovative and adaptable to various skincare routines.”
