Flameret - the maker of fire fire retardant products - is getting in on the skincare business, but using industrial hemp as a main ingredient and selling point. T
he company has launched Cannasone, a skincare cream - and each 8oz bottle contains 200mg of CBD, or cannabidiol, derived from industrial hemp. The company has three more products planned to launch before the end of this year. The products will be marketed through Royal Hemp Corporation, Flamaret's recently formed Colorado wholly-owned subsidiary, and sold in the U.S.
John Meredith, Chief Executive Officer of Flameret, Inc., said:
"We are thrilled that we can deliver this news to the marketplace. Flameret already has an exciting product available for sale in our high CBD hemp oil and we are cautiously optimistic about the commercial potential of Cannasone. We are now one of only a handful of companies in the world selling hemp oil rich in CBD."
Researchers have looked at the impact of phytocannabinoids (plant derived cannabinoids) on the epigenetic regulation of skin differentiation genes in a study published in September 2013 in the British Journal of Pharmacology. It detailed how cannabinoids can potentially play a role in the treatment of diseases, however, none of the statements regarding Cannasone or the potential therapeutic benefits of cannabidiol have been evaluated by the FDA.
