Elizabeth Arden, in tandem with the release of a clinical study published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, has launched Triple Protection Factor Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 50+, or TPF 50, which the brand calls a “groundbreaking” new anti-aging product.
It marks the company's official entry into the global professional skincare market. TPF 50 is the first of the company’s new skincare line, Elizabeth Arden Rx, which will be distributed exclusively through physician offices - beginning in April 2014.
The line, which uses sleek silver bottles with airless pumps, will be previewed at the annual American Academy of Dermatology Meeting on March 21, 2014. Elizabeth Arden is a co-sponsor of the Skin Cancer Foundation's annual event.
TPF 50, a broad spectrum sunscreen with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, was developed based on a unique combination of protective and restorative ingredients that work synergistically.
The product includes an anti-oxidant complex, with Arazine, L-Carnosine and L-Ergothioneine. It alos contains a DNA Complex, with Photolyase, Endonuclease and 8-oxoguanine Glycosylase, to help protect against free radical damage and support the skin's own natural repair system.
The brand says it’s the most effective topical skin protection product on the market. The results of the double-blind irradiation study published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology show TPF 50 to be significantly more effective than other topical products with DNA Enzymes, antioxidants and/or growth factors when these products were used in combination with SPF 50 sunscreens.
The beauty care giant tapped the innovation expertise of US CosmeceuTechs, LLC and its CEO, Joe Lewis to collaborate on the formulation. Lewis, a chemist and cosmeceutical skincare researcher, is best known for introducing some of the world's most cutting-edge skincare ingredients including Alpha-Hydroxy Acid in 1983.
E. Scott Beattie, president & CEO, Elizabeth Arden, Inc., commented:
"With over a 100-year commitment to delivering cutting-edge skincare technology, Elizabeth Arden set out to develop the next generation in topical skin protection. We identified an opportunity for innovation in this category and concentrated our research on the development of a breakthrough product that addresses multiple benefits and provides unparalleled skin protection; TPF 50 is the culmination of these efforts."
