Meridith Webster has joined The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. (ELC) in the newly created position of executive vice president, global communications and public affairs. She reports jointly to William P. Lauder, executive chairman, and Fabrizio Freda, president and CEO—and also joins ELC’s Executive Leadership Team.
Webster succeeds Alexandra (Alex) Trower as head of global communications and Maria Cristina (MC) González Noguera as head of global public affairs. The appointment follows the news that Trower made the decision to retire in June after an esteemed career at the company, and that Noguera was recently tapped for the role of EVP and chief communications and public affairs officer at Popular Inc.
According to ELC, Webster’s “deep government experience” includes tenures under multiple U.S. presidential administrations, including most recently, the Biden White House, where she served as Special Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff to the Domestic Policy Council.
