Voting on the best beauty products of 2013 just got a little more intense.
Cosmetic Executive Women’s Insiders’ Choice Beauty Awards Product Demo—the place where more than 2,000 CEW members will preview last year’s beauty launches—will showcase more than 700 products entered by more than 300 beauty brands, the most ever entered for the event.
The sold-out show, to be held March 5 at the Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th Street, New York, NY) will feature products within 34 different categories, from which 192 finalists will be selected and announced in April. Members judge products based on innovation, delivery system and packaging. The finalists will be voted on by CEW’s Board of Governors to determine the winners, which will be announced May 16 at the 2014 CEW Insiders’ Choice Beauty Awards luncheon at the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan. Ballots for both the finalists and winners are cast electronically and tabulated by Ernst & Young LLP. The presenting sponsor for the 2014 Beauty Awards is Meredith.
This year’s Demo will highlight the 20th anniversary of the Awards by presenting for the first time, the Iconic Beauty Award, sponsored by DSM Personal Care, which will recognize two products (one mass, one prestige) that have transcended 20 years or more in the industry. As in past years, a Best Seller Award will be given within the mass and prestige channels of distribution; the Eco Beauty Award, sponsored by Givaudan, will recognize a brand that practices sustainability; and the Indie Beauty Award will acknowledge an indie beauty company. Once again, CEW and QVC are partnering for QVC Beauty Quest, where the TV retailer will select one brand to be featured on QVC.
A new concept at this year’s Demo will be the Beauty Insider Lounge, an area near the main entry of the Demo that will feature refreshments and a comfortable place to recharge both your feet and mobile devices. It’s also where attendees can enter their business card for a chance to be featured in CEW Member Spotlight, a new column on CEW’s beauty news and information website, Beauty Insider.
Carlotta Jacobson, president of CEW, says, “This year’s Awards will undoubtedly be our most exciting event to date, especially with the excitement around the enormous amount of products that have been entered and, of course, because it is our 20th anniversary of the event.”
