The HBA Global Expo will bring together the entire world of beauty and personal care to help launch new products and brands from conception to distribution. |
The 2013 HBA Global Expo will take place June 18-20 this year, at New York City’s Jacob Javits Convention Center. The show attracts thousands of visitors—last year, more than 6,500 beauty companies were represented, as well as hundreds of exhibiting suppliers. A high-level opening session will kick off the three days of learning, sourcing and networking.
The HBA Global Expo’s Trend Spot Theatre will serve as a quiet place to hear one of the many expert speakers that are on the schedule this year. |
Once again, the show will feature the annual IPDA Awards for outstanding package design. The competition is sponsored by Beauty Packaging and Happi magazines. IPDA winners will be named in the following categories: cosmetics, fragrance, hair care, personal care, skin care, tools/at-home devices, sampling and travel size products, as well as innovations in sustainability and the people’s choice for best new exhibitor and SPLASH products seen at HBA.
Visitors to HBA will also find:
• The “SPLASH” Pavilion, showcasing 30 new brands from around the world
• A New Product Showcase, highlighting some of the exhibitors’ not-to-be-missed items
• The Trend Spot Theatre, featuring expert speakers
• The OMNI Purchasing Solutions Pavilion, highlighting retail solutions, such as mobile technologies, P-O-P, store fixtures and digital media
• The SPA Services & Products Pavilion, highlighting products and services for the wellness, holistic healing and resort industries
The HBA Global Expo also offers many opportunities for education, and this year there’s a new one-day special event—the IoPP Packaging Learning Center Conference. It will take place on Wednesday, June 19, and will cover a range of packaging-specific topics, including design and contract manufacturing.
“The latest in packaging innovations and trends is one of the top areas of interest for the HBA Global audience. We are thrilled to partner with IoPP and offer our attendees these sessions that will enhance their brand and professional success,” says Jill Birkett, brand director, Beauty & Wellness, UBM Live.
The IoPP Packaging Learning Center Conference’s sessions will include:
• “Optimize Health & Beauty for the Web: New Insights from Shopper Research” will look at the role packaging plays for online consumers.
• “The Future of Retail and its Impact on Packaging as Media” will explore how packaging will be impacted by the trajectory of retail, mainstreaming technologies and the changing culture.
• “Package Design Considerations for Cosmetics in International Markets” will include tips for developing packaging that complies with global environmental rules and regulations.
• “Five Ways to Win with the Right Contract Packager” will provide tips on how to find the right contract packaging partner.
More than 50 additional classes and trend seminars will be held throughout the show as part of the HBA Global Conference Program. Sessions are divided into the following categories: Brand Development, Innovations, Skin Care and Natural and Sustainable.
Expert speakers will include executives from Coty, Dr. Dennis Gross Skin Care, Duane Reade/Walgreens, Elizabeth Arden, NARS Cosmetics, Target, Tru Fragrance, Unilever and Yes to Inc.
