Room Sprays with an updated and sustainable package design. The natural product line features six island-inspired scents.
The company redesigned its fragrance mist packaging to become eco-friendly. “Malie Organics is committed to reducing its carbon footprint not just through the ingredients used in each product, but also the packaging. Repackaging and redesigning our best-selling fragrance mists seemed like the next step in our efforts to become as environmentally conscious as possible,” explains Dana Roberts, owner.
With the use of recyclable plastic bottles and the removal of metal pumps and outer packaging, Malie’s Island Ambiance Linen and Room Spray is better for the environment and the packaging modifications also increased the product’s functionality. “Malie wanted to stick to its reputation of beautiful packaging that was also eco-friendly and organic. Finding the recyclable bottles was a top priority, as again, this is one of our number one selling items, so we wanted to be sure that plastic consumption was as minimal as possible,” Roberts says. The metal pumps were replaced with recycled plastic, which when dispensed allows the product to eject a slow mist instead of a quick pump of spray.
The picturesque labels capture the island feel. “The signature Malie labels are used on all our products. We feel they reflect the element of beauty in all our products both inside and out,” she says, adding that because the products do not have an outer box, the labels have to be as eye-catching as a beautifully crafted outer package. Additionally, the new packaging allows for 20% more product in every bottle for the same price, which means less consumption, packaging and transportation, she points out.
“These were definitely important goals for us with this product and every product in the Malie Organics line. Malie is committed to making educated choices that have a positive effect on our environment, so it is important that we work together in our communities to find solutions and change the way we live and consume. Being green is a part of daily living. It encompasses the choices we make and the actions that follow. People can turn things around by making small incremental efforts to green their lives,” she says.
Island Ingredients
All of Malie’s signature aromas contain the essences of wild-crafted and organic ingredients through pure Hawaiian Hydrosols, the therapeutic floral waters that infuse each product. The scents include Coconut Vanilla, Koke’e (scent of the native maile vine), Mango Nectar, Orchid, Pikake, a Hawaiian jasmine, and Plumeria. The room sprays retail for $37 each, and are available at www.malie.com and select boutiques nationwide.
“These delicate floral waters capture every element of the plant and all its benefits at the molecular level, resulting in products that contain only the aromatherapeutic qualities of some of Hawaii’s most prized flowers and plants, like the delicate Pikake Jasmine and treasured Hawaiian Vanilla,” she says.
