Three Amorepacific employees were caught stealing $2.3 million that they were investing in stocks and cryptocurrencies—and using for illegal gambling.
"Through our recent internal audit, we discovered the embezzlement by our employees and disciplined them," the company said in a statement to The Korea Times. "As we recovered most of the stolen money, we were able to minimize the financial damage."
Stealing money to gamble illegally seems to also be an issue in Korea. Police recently arrested an employee of cosmetics manufacturer Clio in Korea for the same reason.
