Kate McLeod is a pastry-chef-turned-beauty-entrepreneur from New York, and her namesake line of waterless, zero-waste solid moisturizers just launched on Sephora's website.
The Body Stone by Kate McLeod is a solid moisturizer that "melts into a luxurious body oil," the brand says, as you glide it onto the skin. It intensely nourishes dry skin with over 80% cocoa butter plus sweet almond oil and apricot kernel oil.
Solid moisturizers don't require wax, preservatives, synthetics, or stabilizers—and the Body Stone carries the "Clean at Sephora" seal. By removing water from its formulas, the brand created sustainable, plastic-free packaging, and reduced its carbon footprint.
"Bringing the Daily Stone to Sephora is a big moment for our brand, and for me personally," said McLeod, who is th brand's co-founder and formulator. "This started in my kitchen, and the Daily Stone is where it all began. It took me three years to perfect the formula, and I personally hand-poured thousands of Daily Stones when we launched the business."
Every Body Stone comes with a 100% cotton wrap to hold it as you apply. Refills are available at a lower price without the cotton wrap.
McLeod says she still handcrafts, hand wraps, and hand packages every Body Stone with love in her Hudson Valley workshop.
"We do everything very intentionally, so launching at Sephora with a single hero product felt right for us as a brand and will allow the Sephora customer to understand that we do things very differently," she says.
