The cartons are the result of a collaboration between the Sapelo team, led by Cindy Edwards and Stephanie Duttenhaver, the designer Emily McCarthy, and DISC’s production team. According to Stephen Frey, senior vice president of sales for DISC, “with the customer’s input, we focused our attention on producing cartons that complimented the primary packaging’s design aesthetic and expressed the sense of luxury that is critical to the brand. The attention to every detail helped make this an award-winning packing design.”
GDUSA’s 54th annual American Graphic Design Awards received over 10,000 entries; only 10% were designated as winners.
Other news from DISC
In other news from DISC, the company received GMI Prime certification from Graphic Measures International, a leader in monitoring and measuring the performance of packaging suppliers. Many brand owners and retailers such as Target, Home Depot, CVS, and Walgreens have made GMI certification a requirement for their packaging suppliers. To achieve this certification, DISC had to meet GMI’s rigorous evaluation of five key components: process control and documentation, equipment maintenance, training procedures, operator capability and equipment performance.
