Saturday Night Live is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and Xyrena created a fragrance to tie in with the festivities - Andy Kaufman Milk & Cookies, named after the legendary performance artist / comedian who passed away in 1984.
Strangely, paying tribute to deceased celebrities seems to be a trend for Xyrena - check out Aaliyah's scent. Another one of its recent launches celebrates an LGBT teen who was bullied.
Xyrena is promoting the fragrance on its website as a funny holiday gift, as in the photo shown above. The bottle, also shown above, is decorated with an image of Kaufman that is printed on the front.
The Inspiration
Andy Kaufman Milk & Cookies is a gourmand fragrance inspired by Kaufman's historic performance at Carnegie Hall in April 1979, after which he took the audience of 2,800 people out for milk and cookies with 24 buses he had waiting outside the venue. The audience was taken to the NY School for Printing at 439 W 49th St.
"Andy Kaufman once said, 'There's no way to describe what I do. It's just me,'" said Killian Wells, Founder of Xyrena. "That quote and Andy's opposition to the societal norm has always resonated with me. As a New York native and fan I'm excited to pay homage to Andy's undeniable genius."
Formulated by Wells, Milk & Cookies opens with top notes of sugar and sweet butter then develops into a heart of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and a delicate note of creamy milk, followed by bottom notes of vanilla extract and white musk.
A commercial spot for Milk & Cookies will also be released this week featuring digitally remastered footage from Andy Kaufman Plays Carnegie Hall.
