The 24th Edition of Luxe Pack Monaco, the International exhibition for luxury goods packaging for more than 20 years, will host 340 exhibitors, including global leaders in the fields as well as small and medium-size firms. The show is anticipated to receive more than 6000 visitors (about 55% international).
The Luxe Pack Monaco 2011 Conference Program is filled with packed days of information on luxury packaging trends from key industry players. The following is a list of highlights of the dynamic event that takes place at Grimaldi Forum in Monaco from October 19th to the 21st. Note some session require preregistration.
Wednesday October 19th
10.15am - 11.00am: “What’s left of luxury ‘codes’?” Gauthier Boche, head of strategy and development, at FutureBrand, will share the findings from the firm’s comprehensive study of luxury brand management.
11.15am - 12.00am: “The luxury sector tax system in China: steps to access and develop on the Chinese market.” Sandra Hazan, of Salans, will share her insights on the Chinese market, one of the most important global markets for luxury brands.
1.30pm - 2.15pm: “And the unconscious mind shall create the trend…” Ludivine and Delphine Sciarrino, founders of By Lude, an agency specializing in the psycho-anthropology of companies, make predictions of scientific trends for packaging using 10 cult Dior and Guerlain creations chosen for the show. The creations are indicative of upcoming trends for Summer 2012 to summer 2014.
2.30pm - 3.30pm: “Ritual & Narratives within Luxury Design” by Kacper Hamilton. The London-based designer will discuss themes within his self-initiated and client projects for the luxury goods industry.
4.00pm - 5.30pm: “Sustainable trend, desirable development.” This roundtable is organized and moderated by Gilles Gauthier, R&D and Amandine Autier, eco design engineer Plastic Eco design Center. Other participants include Christian LaFage, sustainable development director, Remy Cointreau Group, Dominique Weizmann, founder, DW Consulting, M. Thursday October 20th
10.15am - 11.00am: “The Virtues of Non-Linear Thought - and its value to brands through packaging” by Alex Theodorou and Sav Savva, Directors SabotagePKG. This session explores the creative processes of design masters and the issues affecting the industry today
11.15am - 1.00pm: “Caviar in a cosmetic jar?” Ute Von Buch, editor-in-chief, Creativ Verpacken, moderates this German-speaking panel discussion on how out-of-the-box-thinking translates into market success through outstanding packaging ideas and materials.
1.30pm-2.15pm: “Full service: the different partnerships to keep the strategic lead." Roundtable participants debate the requirements from the brand owners and speak about different types of partnerships. Participants include: François Camilli, senior vice president, LF BEAUTY; Julien Saada, CEO, Maesa, and Guillaume Bregeras, editor-in-chief, Formes De Luxe.
2.30pm - 4.00pm: “Innovation, sustainability, creativity: Buzzwords or Bywords?” International designer Marc Rosen moderates this panel discussion with Sumit Bhasin, global leader of innovation, P&G Prestige; Henri Renella, senior vice-president, global package development Estee Lauder; Gus Bezas, président global strategic development, Milbar Labs, and Azzi Glasser, perfume designer, Family Three Ltd. The panel takes a look at striking a balance between delivering on customer’s expectations and behaving responsibly by addressing their concerns.
4.15pm - 5.00pm: “To be or not to be…a luxury brand.” Presentation by Donald Potard, founder and director of Agent de Luxe and Philippe Roblin, Semiotician, co-founder and director of and associate professor of marketing and communication (Paris XIII, Sorbonne), and Olivier Raymond, strategic planner for Bayadères Etoilethe luxury and premium department of Bayadères. Session explores the rules of the luxury world and discusses the timeless qualities, cultural adaptations and trends (particularly in terms of materials) future business strategies should include.
Friday October 21st
10.00am-11.00am: Luxe Pack Trends Observer. This round table on packaging trends is moderated by Guillaume Bregeras, Formes de Luxe magazine editor with Béatrice Mariotti, vice president Carré Noir; Véronique Liabeuf, managing director Enjoy Design; Isabelle Musnik, content and editorial manager Influencia; Robert Dominic, teacher, communication Department Ecole Boulle; and Jean-Paul Cornillou, head of packaging section Strate College; and sociologist Patrice Duchemin and Remy Oudghiri, director of departments corporate strategy and trends and future studies Ipsos. 11.15am - 12.00am: “Olfactory logo Preview” round table. Susanna Bonati, creative director and founder of Comunicando Magazine Sunnycom Publishing moderates this unique presentation. It will attempt to convey a sensorial imprint that is fixed in the memory of the public. A series of partners involved in this project on the essence and packaging will attend and explain how they attempt to turn an idea into a product.
1.30pm - 2.15pm: “Luxury goods: yesterday, today and tomorrow.” This presentation, monitored by Ms Fflur Roberts, head of global luxury goods, Euromonitor International, gives an outlook for the global luxury goods market and discusses implications for packaging industry. Key trends, developments and opportunities impacting and driving the luxury goods industry on 2010 - 2015 periods will be discussed.
