Pacific Perfumes, a New Zealand natural products company, is breaking into the eco-friendly market and has been picked up by a New York distributor after winning in the green category in the HBA International Package Design Awards held in New York this year, according to TV New Zealand.
In 2003 Francesca Brice and Kate Jasonsmith founded the fragrance firm. The two noted that they have had increased interest from all over the world as a result of winning the HBA award. While the company has exported products in the past, they had not broken into the international market and have now received inquiries from the US, Australia and Europe, they said.
The company’s Artisan Botanical range of 100% natural solid perfumes launched in late 2010. Pacific Perfumes also recently won the Judges Special Award at the New Zealand Packaging Environmental Design Awards. The company is committed to producing sustainable products, the founders said. For example, for their wood pots the company uses sustainable beech, which is sourced from certified sustainable New Zealand forests. In addition, a new tree is planted for every one that is logged and Pacific Perfumes also donates $1 from each sale of the Artisan range to the New Zealand Forest and Bird Society.
