DISC has been named “Best of the Best Workplaces in the Americas” by Printing Industries of America (PIA). It is the fifth time the company has received this top honor, and its eleventh win since PIA established the program in 2000.

Margaret Krumholz, president of DISC, commented:

"We feel a tremendous surge of pride to receive this top award from PIA for the fifth time. It underscores our passionate belief in providing a positive and fertile environment in which our people can grow and thrive. The programs designed and executed by our human resources professionals, with the full support of our management team, consistently foster the growth, development and well-being of our employees. Without an engaged, positive and prepared workforce, we would not be the company we are today.”

Printing Industries of America is the world’s largest graphic arts trade association, and each year its competition is open to member companies who demonstrate that they care about their employees’ work environment and can balance their personal goals and ambitions with those of the company.

Diane Ferrante, director of human resources, DISC, explained:

"Training and development are a big part of who we are as a company. We make sure to keep our employees up-to-date on new advancements in printing and graphic arts technologies. Our people have access to an ongoing series of programs that provide new procedures, cross-training and updates to advance their skill sets. In fact, under a New York State grant, several of our employees earned Six Sigma Yellow and Green belts for their level of expertise in our quality program.”

Ferrante added that there is a strong sense of community and family that pervades the DISC environment. She said:

“We are always active in fundraising and community outreach for various local and national groups. But, our Hurricane Sandy relief program was personal. The money we collected was given to three DISC employees who lost their homes in the disaster. Our employees take great pride in being part of a company that cares about its people, continually invests in new equipment and technology, and is also known in the industry for its innovation and excellence.”
