Tom's of Maine Awards a Non-Profit

Tom's of Maine awarded the non-profit organization, inCOMMON Community Development of Omaha, Nebraska, a grand prize of $50,000 in its "50 States for Good" Program. Five other non-profit organizations were also winners, and were presented with $20k.

"We recommend all of our winning nonprofits for their tireless work to inspire grassroots goodness and transform their communities," said Susan Dewhirst, goodness programs manager at Tom's of Maine. "The spirit of giving back and bringing positive change to local communities is one we share at Tom's of Maine and we're excited to see the public rally around local projects."

Consumers who visited Tom's of Maine's website during the voting period chose the winners from among 20 finalists. The finalists were chosen by a panel of judges, based on the number of volunteers mobilized by the project and the number of people positively impacted. The program received 51 applicants, and all organizations that qualified as a non-profit were encouraged to apply.
