MakeUp in Paris, the first event in Europe exclusively dedicated to the makeup industry, marks its fifth anniversary on June 12 and 13 at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris.
The avante-garde show—which encompasses entertaining features that highlight the skills of cosmetic professionals from makeup schools, via parades and elaborate demonstrations—hosts international professionals primarily from the formulation, packaging and accessories sides of the industry, but also attracts full-service specialists and designers working on marketing, purchasing and research and development teams.
The various elements have combined for a spectacle described by the organizers as “an event like no other,” one which has grown by leaps and bounds in five years, with global editions also now held annually in New York City and Seoul, Korea.
A record 110 exhibitors have reserved booth space in the bright halls that lie at the base of the Louvre Museum, as they present their own makeup industry “masterpieces.” More than 3,000 attendees, primarily from Europe—but with international guests as well—are expected to visit the show during the two days.
As always, a strong conference program will accompany the exhibition. This year, more than two-dozen speakers will address topics ranging from neuroscience to blogs.
Highlights of this fifth edition include a conference hosted by Marielle Belin and Jean-Louis Prata, titled “Neuroscience and Innovation: How to Innovate and Keep Clients Passionate in the Long Term.”
On June 12, a “chromo-cosmetic and dynamic” afternoon will be presented by the Comité Français de la Couleur.
Additional presentations include: Makeup Codes in Japan, Korea and France; Intuition as An Aid to Decision-Making and a Driver for Innovation; Inspirations for Packaging: Key Trends in Color, Prints and Surface Design; and Microbial Protection and “Intelligent” Packaging.
There will also be a special focus this year on makeup in the United States, with sessions targeting Beauty and Femininity in the USA—Roots & Trends; and The West Coast of the United States: A Think-and-Do Tank, with participants Jill Tomandl, now of Smashbox; Leila Rochet Podevin, of Inspiration-Creation; and Ingrid Jackel, of Physicians Formula.
