NYX Professional Makeup has named Laura Sanchez, of the YouTube channel LauraMakeup25, as Beauty Vlogger of the Year.
The award was presented to Sanchez on August 20th at the Fifth Annual NYX Fine Artistry of Cosmetic Elites (FACE) Awards Show, held at the Novo Theater in Los Angeles. The event was hosted by Kandee Johnson with emcee Charismastar.
Sanchez will receive $50,000 and a year's supply of NYX Professional Makeup, and the opportunity to kick-start a professional career in makeup artistry. The five runner-ups – Kristi McKee, Fernanda Machado, Brianna Fox, Alexa Poletti and Haley Wight – will each receive $15,000 and a year's supply of NYX Professional Makeup.
The top six finalists were asked to create a video showing a makeup look inspired by the theme, Emotions. The videos were shown to the NYX FACE Awards’ 1,200 attendees and live-streamed on YouTube.
The judges were: Ve Neill, a renowned makeup artist in the motion picture business; Ingrid Nilsen, a top YouTube vlogger; Megan McIntyre, Beauty Features Director at Refinery29; and Melissa Giannini, editor-in-chief of Nylon magazine.
Sanchez commented, "This competition gave me the opportunity to grow my career as a makeup artist and has opened so many doors for me in this industry. I am also grateful for the wonderful people I have met throughout this competition, and am proud to call the top six my friends.”
NYX President Scott Friedman added, "The NYX FACE Awards is an empowering program which serves a wonderful representation of the YouTube beauty community. We are so proud of our hard-working and talented contestants. NYX Professional Makeup is grateful for the continued support over the past five years, and we look forward to continuing this program for years to come."
