Glo skincare no longer includes polyethylene beads in its products. "We are fidning biodegradable alternatives," the brand states.
The Denver-based company has reformulated its products that contained the beads. These products included Daily Polishing Cleanser, which now includes dissolvable jojoba beads; Refresh Facial Polish, whihc now includes Diatomaceous Earth plus jojoba beads; and Clear Acne Cleanser, which now contains synthetic wax beads that dissolve after use.
Polyethylene Beads, found commonly in most facial cleansers and skincare products can cause plastic particle pollution and pose an environmental threat to animals in both fresh and ocean water. The Microbead-Free Waters Act of 2015 mandates that all Polyethylene Beads be phased out of rinse off cosmetics by July 2017.
Glō says it is proud to be taking action ahead of this deadline.
